Tachyon XC HD 3D

Tachyon XC HD 3D

Feb 3, 2011

Tachyon has updated their helmet cameras with 2011 models. This time they included also a 3D rig, combining two HD cameras into one. 2011 Tachyon XC HD 3D rig can record 720p video at 30 fps. They use H.264 compression for storing. 3D rig also includes helmet attachment. SDHC memory cards are the main media, up to 32Gb are supported. Also Tachyon ships their own software for combining left and right eye footage into a single video file. From the description it seems that it only supports anaglyph output (what a pity). But the Tachyon camera manual says that you can convert original MOV files from the cameras into an AVI, and then import it into any video editing software.

It is still unclear how precisely cameras are fixed, meaning how much (if any) post correction is needed. Chances are some adjustments will be needed in post.

Cameras are providing 90 degrees wide angle. HDMI and analog outputs are supported.

Tachyon currently sells 3D rig online for 390$ + delivery costs.
