Sony 360 autostereo display

Sony presented a brilliant piece of engineering called RayModeler, a 360-Degree Autostereoscopic Display Prototype. According to the description in the video clip, this display generates and plays back 360 different images for every angle. So when you move around it, you can move around the displayed object. The object is in full color and can be animated. This is pretty much like the holography, but achieved with different means. The prototype contains its own graphical processor which can render images in real time. Or you can provide a live shot images of the pretty girl in the clip.

Have to say, this looks incredibly cool. The resolution of images is not that great, but hey, that’s just a first prototype.
