Panasonic DMC-3D1

Panasonic DMC-3D1

Nov 11, 2011

Panasonic presented a new 3D still camera called DMC-3D1. It is a compact sized camera similar to the Fujifilm’s Read 3D W3. Two sensors and two lenses gives you ability to snap things on the go. The interaxial between lenses is smaller than in Fujifilm camera, which is good for close ups and bad for landscapes. Actually, with 3cm interaxial the stereoscopic depth will be limited (rough guess) to 10 meters or so. All objects after that will be pretty much flat. Then again this camera is good for snapping nice 3d pictures at home, where everything is close.

Official specs from Panasonic claims that the camera features two super wide 25mm lenses with 12Mp sensors. For 3D mode maximum resolution of the picture is 3,264 x 2,448 pixels (8MP). The camera is able to record 3D video at 1920×1080 pixels, at 50i or 60i(nterlaced frames per second). Camera also offers 4x optical zoom even for 3D mode. Currently in preorder on Amazon, the price is listed at 500$.
