Jämi Fly In 2010

Jämi Fly In 2010

Jul 14, 2010

Here are fresh stereo photos from the Jämi Fly In 2010 aviation event. The event is held annually at Jämi airfield, gathering many aviators and aviation enthusiasts. More than 10 000 people visited the event this year. Hundreds of airplanes, helicopters, and all other flying devices. Skydivers made their own appearance too on the show. I’ve been there for the weekend. Mostly doing skydive, but also doing some stereo shooting under the hot hot sun. Temperature on the both days was about 30 degrees.

Since my stereo rig has a limitation of zooming – or to put it straight I have to take as wide images as possible – all the action is mostly on the ground. It seems that aviation events are also a great place to meet fellow photographers, make new friends, try out different lenses and chat about the weather. My weird looking stereo rig is getting certain attention, though so far I was a lonely stereographer on this celebration of life. We’ll see it in a year, things are changing pretty fast.

The crane was huge. It was lifting camera people to the altitude of 104 meters above the ground. Just enough to get the planes flying through the airfield space.

Right now people are actively sharing pictures on Finnish flight forum. Check out this thread for awesome 2d pics: http://www.flightforum.fi/forum/index.php/topic,94837.0.html

And thanks everyone involved for the lovely weekend.
